Helen Evans is the Mary and Michael Jaharis Curator for Byzantine Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, whose exhibitions include Byzantium and Islam (2012), Byzantium: Faith and Power (2004), and The Glory of Byzantium (1997).

Mary Carruthers, Professor Emeritus of English at New York University, is a widely recognized authority on medieval literature, rhetoric, memory and mnemonic technique, and spirituality, whose many publications have influenced a variety fields including history, art history, literature, and many others.
