This year’s SVS Summer Music Institute brought us to diverse church-music traditions: Slavic, Byzantine, Coptic, and Georgian. Immersing ourselves deeply into each, through top-quality preparatory videos, the Institute’s live panel discussions helped us to see that our musical diversity contributes to our unity. There were skills classes at all levels, for singers, composers, and conductors. Asked what was most meaningful to them, one participant was moved by
a body of people who are so dedicated to the worship of God through beautiful music, and the interaction of all the institutions working together in harmony - what a perfect model!
